I love Season of the Witch & traditional Samhain.... although I'm not much a fan of the remake as holloween since it's been diluted by childhood fictions & images (though I'm here to learn).
Samhain rituals as veils for the other night (side) visitors was similar to the shamanic concept of visitations between us & other worldly realms.
At least it is how I learned it; correct me if I'm incorrect.
Everyone has their only way to celebrate. There's no right or wrong. I have been to so many Samhain rituals and practices since 1992. It depends on your tradition, personal beliefs and heritage
