  • Hey everyone..I have a quick question...

I recently made some cocoa brownies and used half regular flour and half rice flour, since I don't have eggs I used a 1/4 cup yougurt for each egg.

Now after following the recipe and baking them they turned out nice but did not rise as much as they should have so should I have used more baking powder? The original recipe calls for 1/2 tsp but because I used rice flour for half of the regular flour maybe that hindered the rising?

Maybe 3/4 tsp baking powder? Other than that they turned out of though I might add more liquid; perhaps more yogurt or just a bit of water to make the batter a tiny bit thinner so it rises better.

    Thanks :)

    • Yes! This is right! When you first start off cooking you have to be in the right frame of mind before you even enter the kitchen; a mindset of love and calmness. You are cooking to nourish the minds, body and heart of those you cook for. Your spoon or 'wand' helps to infuse the food -whatever it might be- with kindness and that mood itself will also determine how nourishing it will be.

Cook with anger in your heart and it will seep like a vipers venom into the food poisoning all those who eat of it.

Cook with love and care and it will permeate the food with good-will and love which makes the food not just physically nourishing but spiritually as well. Your mindset matters.

Cook when you are happy but if you are angry and full of resentment then stay away as even the energy of your bad mood will poison the air of the sacred kitchen!

      Sorry....kinda ranting...

      Words of wisdom!

    • Thank you for the kind words; I once had a book called, I think, "The Sacred Kitchen" and it talked about how ones mindset is so very important and how the energy of our thoughts can affect the food, its ability to nourish and the mood of the cook will invariably affect the family you cook for.

It will also affect pets too. If you grumble and complain while feeding your dog or cat, that sourness is going to affect their health and how they relate to you. Feeding others -human or otherwise- is a way of daily life and should never be viewed as a burden or bother because others will pick up on that and truly make them ill.

    Kitchen Cabinet Abundance Jar

    • a small jar
    • kosher salt
    • a few coins
    • alfalfa

    1. Take a small jar and fill half full with kosher salt.
    2. Add a few coins (pennies are fine) to the jar, then fill the remainder of the jar with alfalfa.
    3. Screw the lid on tightly. Holding the jar in your hands, visualize your cupboards, pantry and refrigerator full of healthy foods and say,

    Bless this home with abundance.
May it always be filled with enough to share.

    4. Place the jar to the back of a shelf and let it be. Once a year, refill the jar and restate the chant.
