I like to go to a coffee shop with my laptop, put my earphones on playing Spotify on shuffle. Sometimes the music inspires a scene. Other that that, late at night or in the wee hours of the morning I'll get an idea and need to get up and write it.

I do a lot of thinking about what the topic is and have ideas floating around. I get a lot of ideas over night. I work from home (have for years) on the computer so I find bits of time during the day and write what I can. I then sit down after work or on weekends and write larger sections. I'm sort of all over the place partly because of my works schedule. I will put on music or put some video on that I am not absorbed in for background noise.
It depends at what stage of my writing I am at. If I'm full swing in a write then I will sit somewhere comfortable, put on my beats (which elimanate outside sounds) and write early in the morning with a random playlist. I tend to write best If I am in the habit of writing daily and force myself even if I don't have the mood. As I currently don't have time to devote to my writing project I just keep a diary as and when I can, this includes any ideas I may get along the way.
